Reading this site means accepting the terms set out below. They describe what our reviews are, what our figures do and do not claim, how the work may be reused, and the point at which our responsibility stops.
Everything published here is criticism. A score is one group's judgement of a completed playthrough on a stated build, and readers will reasonably disagree with some of it. No page on this site constitutes a warranty about how a game will run, feel or behave on your own equipment.
Every response figure, frame count and timing on this site was recorded on one fixed configuration during the period named in the review. Those numbers depend on the controller, the cable or radio link, the operating system, the engine build and the display, all of which differ between setups. A figure that is accurate for our bench may be wrong for yours, and a figure accurate at launch may be wrong after a patch.
We publish measurements as reference points, not as specifications. Nobody should buy or avoid hardware on the strength of a number here without accounting for the differences described on the scale page.
Where a game publishes its own frame data and we check it, our findings describe the build we tested with the equipment we used. Reporting a discrepancy is a statement about our measurement, not an allegation of bad faith by a developer, and we do not claim deliberate misstatement unless a review says so in terms.
Brief quotations in articles, videos, reviews and discussion are welcome, provided Controller Down is credited and the quotation is not edited in a way that inverts its meaning. Reproducing a whole review, translating one without permission, or using this site's text as training material for commercial machine learning systems is not permitted.
Scores and measured figures may not appear in advertising, on storefront pages or in promotional material of any kind. A number lifted out of the review that produced it carries no information a reader can use and misrepresents the work it came from.
All photographs, illustrations and the emblem on this site were produced for it and remain ours. None of them are screenshots and none should be presented as depictions of any game. Names of games, studios, publishers and hardware belong to their respective owners and appear here for identification and critical commentary only; no affiliation or endorsement is claimed or implied.
Nothing on this site is for sale. There is no shop, no paid tier, no membership, no donation route and no advertising inventory, which means no order, payment, refund or delivery can exist between us. Any approach claiming to trade under our name is unconnected to this publication.
The site is provided as it stands. We do not undertake that it will always be reachable, that older reviews will stay online indefinitely, or that internal links will survive a future reorganisation. Reviews may be corrected, annotated, superseded by a re-measurement or withdrawn at editorial discretion.
So far as applicable law permits, we accept no liability for loss or damage arising from reliance on anything published here, including purchases you later regret and hardware bought on the strength of a figure. A review is an input to your judgement rather than a replacement for it.
Occasionally a review cites documentation kept by somebody else. Those sites are entirely outside our control, we make no claim about their accuracy or continued existence, and their own terms apply to you from the moment you follow the link.
This page will be edited as the desk's methods develop. Whatever text appears here when you load it is the version that governs, and continuing to read afterwards means working under the current wording rather than an earlier one.
